The South Asia Water Initiative (SAWI) Mapping Portal is designed to serve as an information tool to promote dialogues and regional cooperation for the sustainable management of the water resources of the Himalayan Rivers. The guiding principal is a flexible framework that i) supports connectivity and shared knowledge among different stakeholders on management of shared water resources; and ii) promote cooperative data sharing and joint assessment to improve the understanding of the basins. The Mapping Portal is designed for an array of users including: engineers, scientists, resource managers, policy makers, teachers, students, and lay persons alike.
